What to Do When an Excel File Exceeds the Limit of 1 MB, 1,000 Rows, or 100 Columns
When the file size exceeds 1 MB
There are three main solutions:
Solution 1: Decrease the size of the Excel file
You can copy the necessary data from the source (large) file and paste it to a new file, which might create a smaller file.
Try, for example, to select only the actual data and copy them to a new file.
Note that you cannot import functions and formulas in the cells to Kintone. You can import only the resulted values. To make the amount of data smaller, you may want to consider pasting functions and formulas in the file as "values" to a new file.
You can also try the following methods to make the file size smaller.
- Delete the unused rows and columns.
- Select hidden objects and comments together and delete them at a time.
- Deselect "Share Workbook" option if it is selected.
Solution 2: Choose one worksheet to save as a separate Excel file
You can only import a single worksheet when creating an app from an Excel file.
If the file contains multiple worksheets, causing it to be large, select and save only the target worksheet, and try to create an app.
Solution 3: Save the data as a CSV file
By using a CSV file, you can import up to 100 MB of data for creating an app.
Save the Excel file as a CSV file, and then create an app from the CSV file.

When the file has more than 1,000 rows
There are two main solutions:
Solution 1: Create an app with the first 1,000 rows, then import the remaining rows afterwards
First, copy the 1,001st row to the last row of your Excel file to another worksheet or file.
Then, in the original Excel file, delete the rows so that the resulting file contains less than or equal to 1,000 rows, and import the Excel file to create an app.

You can then add remaining data copied to another worksheet or file to the app later, using import from file function.

Solution 2: Save the data as a CSV file
By using a CSV file, you can import up to 100,000 rows of data for creating an app.
Save the Excel file as a CSV file, and then create an app from the CSV file.

When the file has more than 100 columns
If you can delete unnecessary columns, delete them from the file to reduce the number of rows to 100 or less.
You cannot import functions and formulas in the cells to Kintone. You can import only the resulted values. You might want to consider deleting rows with functions and formulas.
